A great introduction into the Journey can be celebrated with sampling Belgium's world famous beers or eating your body weight in waffles on your well earned rest day.
Passing through Luxembourg we head into the Mosel region of Germany, with a rest day in Heidelberg before continuing onto Bavaria. Regular rest days ensure that balance of having time exploring Europe's finest regions, and getting some much needed miles in your legs. We cycle through three countries, endless famous landmarks and picturesque walled villages, before arriving into Munich for a well earned rest. Each day of the Journey will finish in hotel accommodation, a hot shower and warm bed awaits, ensuring you are fully rested for the next days cycling.
Leg 2: Munich to Dubrovnik Distance: 1300 km / 805 miles Duration: 16 days
We start the leg into Austria stopping at beautiful Salzburg. Onward south we tackle one of the highlights of the Journey, and a big tick on any cyclists bucket list; Großglockner High Alpine Pass. Ascending to 2556m this is an incredibly tough day but one that will live with you forever. Leaving Austria into Slovenia we pass Lake Bled and gently meander into the Slovenian Capital, ready to feast on its multinational infused cuisine.
From central Europe's mountain passes into the Adriatic coastline this leg takes you from one spectacular world to the next. Heading south with the impressive Dinaric Alps on our left, we travel down the infamous turquoise Croatian Dalmatian coast. Crossing over the halfway point of the Journey, and making a huge mark on the European map for distance covered, finishing this leg is incredibly rewarding. Perhaps a rakia to celebrate?
Leg 3: Dubrovnik to Athens Distance: 1100 km / 680 miles Duration: 11 days
Moving east through the challenging fjord-like Bay of Kotor and Albanian mountain ranges, we head into the Šar Mountains of Macedonia towards Lake Ohrid. Slowly becoming less congested these winding hilly roads offer continuous picture perfect views that make every climb uphill worthwhile. Leaving our last mountain range of the Journey we drop into Greece.
Heading due south we travel through the solitude region of Thessaly before arriving at an inlet of the Aegean Sea. Bypassing the impressive Mount Parnitha as we close in on our final destination.
