Days 1 - 6             Tabriz to Mejarah

Starting in Tabriz, this bustling city is a great introduction to your Iranian adventure. It's famous covered market, which is the largest in the world and one of the oldest in the Middle East, allows a great opportunity to engage with locals and also snap up a bargain.

We leave Tabriz by coach and travel to our start point Mehraban to begin the cycling element of the Journey. Through the impressive Alborz mountain range, with Iran's third highest peak Mount Salaban towering over us at 4811m, the views are truly breathtaking.

Our first day takes us to 3000m elevation, thankfully the beautiful snowcapped peaks provide a stunning distraction, and make the views we have worked so hard for well worth it.

The first half of the Journey we travel mostly on gravel roads within the mountains, and stay in rural homestays. An amazing opportunity to experience authentic Iranian life, their famous cuisine and hospitality.

Days 7 - 12             Mejarah - Tehran

Our second half of the Journey starts with a great ride where we finish in the UNESCO protected mountain village of Masouleh. We then have a days rest from biking as we drive to the historical Rudkhan Castle and explore its grounds. Used to defend against Arab invaders this special and rare castle is a true gem.

Returning to the bikes, the next two days through the Alamut valley is cycle touring at its best - quiet gravel roads into high mountain passes. All this beautiful scenery to ourselves and off the beaten track for a unique Iran experience not experienced by most.

Our final day riding is a dream. Downhill all the way to the lush coastline of Ramsar.

We drive that afternoon to Tehran, for the final day on the Journey to explore all the cultural highlights of the capital. Our final evening meal is a chance to celebrate our Journey, reminisce on the stories from our time cycling, and experience for one final time the hospitality our this great nation.
