We’ve got some exciting news for you: our brand new "Journeys" page is now live at www.mammothjourneys.com/journeys!
If you’ve ever found yourself daydreaming about ditching the daily grind and pedalling off into the unknown (or maybe just down a long, winding trail), then this new section of the site is for you. It’s where we’ve brought together some of our favourite cycling adventures—big rides, foreign trips, and locals backroads that have stuck in our memory long after the mud's washed off.
We created this page not just to document our own rides, but to inspire you to plan your own. Whether it’s your first overnight tour or your tenth trip abroad with your bike strapped to the roof, these journeys are here to help spark that next idea.
So, what’s on the map?
Let’s give you a quick rundown of the rides featured so far:
The big one. This classic pilgrimage route through northern Spain is absolutely packed with history, culture, and brilliant cycling. We tackled the route from London to Santiago de Compostela with it's rolling green hills, sleepy Spanish towns, and some seriously good tapas. It’s not just a bike ride, it’s an experience. If you’re looking for a challenge that feeds the soul as much as the legs, this one’s for you.
You don’t have to go far to find beauty. This gem off England’s south coast (actually closer to France) punches well above its weight when it comes to scenic cycling. Clifftop views, charming seaside towns, and more cafés than you can shake a flapjack at. A perfect long weekend ride for anyone who wants a mini adventure without crossing any borders.
A bizarre one here as we cycled the perimeter of the M25. Obviously not on the motorway, that would be mental (and illegal!). Instead we used small B roads which tracked as close to the mainroad as possible for an epic day out on the bike. Took a little longer than expected so an unplanned night-time finish. Certainly one to try if you are in the south of England.
Sticking with the theme of epic long rides, this was my longest. Starting in Winchester and finishing in Germany. From Dieppe in France to the finish line in the Mosel I did the 600km+ route with no sleeping, over winter. Not one I would rush to do in a hurry but I think a true ultra distance ride should be done at least once - if thats your thing.
A very cool multi-day gavel ride in the south of England through some incredible countryside. Amazing views and plenty of pubs along the way, do this in summer and you will not want this ride to end. I camped along the way so was treated to some truly beautiful sunrises to the start the day.
Why We Built This Page
Cycling has taken us to some amazing places and we’ve learned along the way that it’s not about being the fastest or going the furthest. It’s about getting out there. Exploring. Turning off your phone (unless it's for footage!) and switching on your sense of adventure.
The Journeys page is here to give you ideas, routes, and a bit of motivation**. Whether you're a seasoned tourer or just looking for your first proper cycling weekend, we hope you find something that gets you excited to pump up those tyres and ride.
So go check it out, have a scroll, and let us know what journey you’re planning next. We’d love to hear about it—and maybe even feature it.
