Thule in Japan
All of our adventures with our Thule gear has been cycling related – obviously!
So it was great to try out some of Thule kit out in Japan to see how it fared doing some travelling and backpacking activities.
You may ask why would it be any different to our normal cycling tours?
Well, in the past our Thule Crossover 56L rolling duffel goes from hotel room into car, with minimal faffing around getting stuff in and out. With the rucksack generally used by the cycle guide driving the car to carry some day to day things to and from the cafes!
So a 2 week trip in Japan starting in Tokyo, visiting Osaka, Kyoto and finishing with some skiing in Hakuba – all covered by public transport would certainly test it best.
So first up was the Crossover 25L rucksack which was great to use as carry on the plane.
With the outside pockets not limiting any carrying capacity of the main storage section, it meant you could pack it full using all the space.
Throughout the trip when doing touristy sightseeing the bag carried all of our days supplies, and thanks to it’s wide and padded straps it was super comfortable.
We had a down pour when out in Kyoto but thankfully nothing inside got damp – it’s fabric limited any damage inside which is ace.
For our main luggage the Crossover 56 L rolling duffel was so convenient.
We transported on and off the bullet train with ease, mainly thanks to the fact it’s not particularly heavy for such a large bag. It got taken on and off trains, taxi and planes for two weeks non-stop – but you would not have guessed it as it still looked brand new at the end. It’s super tough material had no sign of wear at the end.
Another point worth nothing on both pieces of luggage is that they looked super smart – not like your average traveller would .
I can’t wait for the next adventure with these two pieces of luggage. They are super durable, stylish and very practical.
